Competitive Eating World Records


Nathan_2006_KobayashiYou have probably seen the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest held on July 4th, but do you know who the world record holder is and how many Nathan’s Hot Dogs they were able to consume in 10 minutes?  The answer is 69 and that record was set on July 4th of 2013.  Do you know how many Krystal Hamburgers the world record holder ate in two minutes?  Bob Shoudt set the world record with 39 Krystal Hamburgers consumed in two minutes back in September of 2007.  Have you ever wanted some useless trivia to impress your friends?  Read below courtesy of the good folks at Major League Eating (MLE).  Major League Eating is the undisputed authority on competitive eating worldwide and they track and maintain the records for the competitive eating world records.

The list below are a few of the competitive eating world records as of June 01, 2014

7-Eleven Sports Slurpee – It only took Patrick Bertoletti 9 seconds to finish a 22 oz Sports Slurpee on April 15, 2010.

Armour Vienna Sausage – 8.31 pounds Armour Vienna Sausage were consumed in 10 minutes by Sonya Thomas on May 28, 2005.

Brats – 70 Hillshire Farm Brats were consumed by Joey Chestnut in 10 minutes on September 22, 2013.

Cow Brains – 57 cow brains (totalling 17.7 pounds) were consumed in 15 minutes by Takeru Kobayashi (date record was set is unknown, but people probably are not beating down the door to break this one).

Donuts – 47 Glazed and Cream-Filled Doughnuts were consumed by Patrick Bertoletti in 5 minutes on March 17, 2007.

Fried Catfish – 7.5 pounds of Fried Catfish were consumed by Patrick Bertoletti in 10 minutes on March 19, 2011.

Fruit Basket – An Edible Arrangements fruit basket was consumed in 3 minutes 52 seconds by Pete Davekos on September 24, 2011.

Funnel Cake – 5.9 pounds of Funnel Cake were consumed in 10 minutes by Joey Chestnut on May 23, 2009.

Hard Boiled Eggs – 20 Hard Boiled Eggs were consumed in 84 seconds by Adrian morgan on August 13, 2011

Jalapenos – 275 Pickled Jalapeno Peppers were consumed by Patrick Bertoletti in 8 minutes on May 01, 2011.

Mars Bars – 38 Mars Bars were consumed in 5 minutes by Patrick Bertoletti in 5 minutes on July 22, 2010.

Mayonnaise – Four 32 ounce bowls of mayonnaise were consumed in 8 minutes by Oleg Zhornitskly (date unkown)

Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches – 42 Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches were consumed in 10 minutes by Petrick Bertoletti on August 08, 2007.

Philly Cheese Steaks – 23 six inch Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches were consumed in 10 minutes by Joey Chestnut on May 14, 2011.

Poutine – 24 pounds of Poutine were consumed in 10 minutes by Joey Chestnut

Ramen Noodles – 10.5 pounds of Ramen Noodles were consumed in 12 minutes by Eric Booker on November 22, 2004.

SPAM – 6 pounds of SPAM (from the can) was consumed in 12 minutes by Richard LeFevre on April 03, 2004

Taco Bell Soft Tacos – 53 Taco Bell Soft Tacos were consumed by Joey Chestnut in 10 minutes on July 29, 2011

Turducken – 7 and 3/4 pounds of Turducken was consumed in 12 minutes by Sonya Thomas on November 26, 2003

Twinkies – 121 Twinkies were consumed in 6 minutes by Joey Chestnut on October 26, 2013.

Watermelon – 13.22 pounds of watermelon was consumed in 15 minutes by Jim Reeves on July 30, 2005.
